Website Terms of Use
Before and Beyond Thirty — The Writers’ Room · Version 2026-10-26-v1 · Effective 26 October 2026
1. Who operates this project
Saddam Hussain is the organizer and compiler of Before and Beyond Thirty. Project, privacy and complaints contact: [email protected]. The Writers’ Room is a collaborative book project; participation does not create employment, a partnership or a guarantee of publication or payment.
School independence
This is an independent alumni book project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially representing Woodstock School, Buxar. The organizer and contributors do not speak for the school. School references, building imagery and house-inspired stamps are used to recall alumni experiences; no ownership of the school’s name, logo or other protected artwork is claimed. Any required third-party permissions remain necessary.
2. Accounts and your choices
Accounts are for adults aged 18 or older. Keep your credentials private, use an email you control and provide information honestly. Contributor access requires editorial approval and is subject to the 40-contributor limit; editor accounts are separate. You can browse public pages without an account. If you do not agree, do not create or continue using a writing account; you may contact us about your existing work, export or deletion.
3. Respectful and lawful contributions
Upload only work and images you own or have permission to use. Do not upload unlawful, threatening, harassing, defamatory, discriminatory or sexually exploitative material, malware, someone else’s private information without a lawful basis, or material that infringes intellectual-property rights. Obtain any necessary permission from photographers and people depicted. You remain responsible for your contributions. Personal experiences and practical tips on this site are not individualized professional advice.
4. Drafts, sharing and public progress
Private drafts are available to their author through the app. Sharing with approved contributors makes a chapter available to that group; submitting makes it available to approved editors. The operator and necessary service providers may process stored information for operating, securing and supporting the service or complying with law. Private means restricted application access, not end-to-end encryption. Shared/submitted contributions can appear in public progress summaries, including credited display/pen names, word counts, badges, milestones and selected house colour. Anonymous contributions are excluded from named individual rankings under the current board rules. Review sharing and credit choices before sharing; request help if you want an identifiable public entry removed. Browser-local writing-time statistics are not the public word-count board.
5. Ownership and publication are separate
You retain ownership subject to any rights you separately grant. These website terms permit only the technical storage, copying, display and processing needed to operate the service in accordance with your selected sharing settings. Saving a draft, accepting these terms or uploading a photo does not by itself grant book-publication, cover-art or promotional rights. Publication, editing, attribution and any deferred-profit arrangements are governed by the separate Contributor Agreement shown when you submit. Submission is not a guarantee of selection or publication.
6. Your portrait / avatar
A portrait is optional. It is used in your account button and, if you enable the opening page, in the chapter introduction and its exports. Visibility follows the chapter’s sharing and credit settings. Submitting a chapter under the Contributor Agreement may authorize the portrait to accompany that chapter in the book. Cover artwork or book promotion, including illustrated or stylized adaptations, requires the separate optional portrait permission at submission. Uploading, cropping or replacing a photo is not cover permission. Permission is tied to the submitted version; replacing the photo does not authorize new cover use automatically. Removing a current portrait does not automatically recall copies already lawfully published or erase an earlier rights record. Contact us to discuss a prospective change or withdrawal; mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
7. Recordings and optional services
Microphone recording starts only when you request it and grant browser permission. Chapter rehearsal takes currently stay on your device unless you download or otherwise deliberately share them. These terms do not authorize publishing an audiobook or using a voice recording for voice cloning or AI training. Separate audio submission/publication terms and any music permissions must be agreed before an online audiobook release. External services such as YouTube and support chat have their own terms and privacy practices.
8. Availability, safety and moderation
We use reasonable safeguards but cannot promise uninterrupted service or perfect security. Keep your own backups. We may restrict access or remove content where reasonably necessary for security, unlawful content, misuse or breach of these terms, subject to applicable law. Contact the project to raise a complaint or seek review; you can request access to your work where legally and technically possible. Nothing here excludes liability or rights that law does not allow to be excluded.
9. Leaving, changes and applicable law
Contact the project for account closure, correction, privacy requests or a copy of your records. Some publication-rights records may need to be retained separately from a closed account. Material changes will be dated and shown for fresh acceptance when appropriate; they do not apply to earlier submissions as a new publication licence. Applicable Indian law governs these website terms, subject to mandatory rights and remedies that apply where you live. No blanket waiver of those rights is intended.
